Just off the coast of North Carolina, access to Bald Head Island is by ferry only. The island's mainland ferry terminal and parking lot are located at Indigo Plantation and Marina in Southport, N.C. Click on the map to see a larger version.

To arrive by car

• I-40 and Highway 74/76 link Wilmington with I-95 to provide access from points north, south and east.

To arrive by air

• The nearest airports are located in Wilmington, NC (45-minute drive) and Myrtle Beach (60-minute drive) from the ferry terminal. Both airports are serviced by US Air, American and Delta.

Take a cool ride on the ferry!

• You will need to make ferry reservations to visit the island. Round trip fare includes tram service from the ferry depot to the rental home will be included. Call 1-800-234-1666. You may also bring your own items such as kayaks, surfboards or bikes. There is a $15 cargo fee for such items and you are responsible for transporting these items from the island ferry depot to our rental homes and back when you depart.
